If we have a NAS server in our home
In case we've a NAS server in our home, the best aspect is to shop all the images and films that we have taken on it. Most NAS servers have applications for smartphones that permit us to synchronize different folders on the cellular, with a selected folder at the NAS server, inside the purest Dropbox style or comparable. In RedesZone we've very well examined all of the cellular applications of the producer QNAP , such as Qsync that is the precise application to carry out this project of report and folder synchronization.
In case you do not have this type of specific
applications with file and folder synchronization, the popular Nextcloud
software can be installed on most manufacturers' NAS
servers, advanced software that will allow us to mount our local Dropbox very
easily. Even if you have a Raspberry Pi and a hard drive, you can mount it
without much trouble.
You could also make use of services like FTP or FTPES to
remotely copy all your files to the NAS server, ideal for backing up to your
own private cloud. In case you don't have the FTP server enabled, you can
always access the SMB / CIFS server using a VPN tunnel ,
since most NAS have VPN server services.
We must not forget that a NAS server is the ideal place to store
all our information locally, since normally we will have configured a RAID to
replicate the information, however, it is advisable to always have a backup in
the cloud, and manufacturers such as QNAP have
of tools to carry out these automatic backups to the cloud (and it is
compatible with different services).
Other characteristics of saving our photos and videos on a NAS is
that the communication between our smartphone or computer and our NAS is
encrypted in most cases (if you use FTP not, it must be FTPES or through VPN),
we can also share our photo album very easily with anyone we designate.
If we do not have a NAS server in our home
In
case we do not have a NAS server in our home, we will have to resort to
external storage units such as pendrives or external hard drives, to make a
backup of all our photos and videos that we have on vacation.
However,
if we do not have this type of device, you can always use cloud services,
either in its free or paid versions. Some storage services that you can
use are Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, MEGA and others less known like these
that we recommend:
We recommend reading our article on what we should take into
account when choosing a cloud storage service:
However, for photographs our favorite is
Google Photos, since it has unlimited storage as long as you use Full HD
resolution and not full resolution, this is ideal to have an easy, fast and
totally free backup. If you have a paid subscription to Google One, you
will get much more out of Google Photos by uploading photos in full resolution.
And
you? What methods do you use to back up your photos and videos when you
are on vacation?
